“The Nutcracker” is produced by Carla Olson and directed by Maddie Walker. This traditional version of the ballet features a talented cast of child, teen, and adult dancers. Based on the story by E.T.A. Hoffman and featuring Peter Tchaikovsky’s lilting score, “The Nutcracker” has been a holiday tradition since its premiere in 1892. It tells the story of a young girl, Clara (Mary Branigan), who receives a wonderful nutcracker on Christmas Eve from her mysterious Godfather, Herr Drosselmeyer (Lorenzo St. Luce). Later that evening, Clara protects her beloved gift from an invading army of mice and a giant rodent, the Rat Queen (Natalie Peerson), and is rewarded for her bravery when the Nutcracker (Macy Paine) is transformed into a handsome prince. Clara embarks on a spectacular journey through the snow-covered forest, led by the Snow Queen (Faith Potter) to the enchanted kingdom, the Land of Sweets, where Clara is escorted by the Sugar Plum Fairy (Gabi St. Luce) and treated to a variety of wonderful dances from around the world.
