Western’s youth programs foster academic growth for the youth of Washington, encouraging curiosity and inspiring exploration.
Poulsbo programs are offered in partnership with the SEA Discovery Center, Olympic College and the City of Poulsbo Parks & Recreation Department.
Western’s SEA Discovery Center offers a variety of programs, both in the summer and academic year. Here are some programs available in Poulsbo this winter:

Girls in Engineering, Math and Science (GEMS) Night Out
(grades 3-8)
Students will explore hands-on science activities in a safe and empowering space for girls to explore STEM fields and meet other girls with similar interests. The program will run from 7 to 9:45 p.m., Fridays, Feb. 24 and May 26, at the SEA Discovery Center. No identities will be turned away, but we’d like to respect the focus of the program.

Kids Night Out @ Western (KNOW)
(grades K-5)
Students will explore hands-on science activities at the SEA Discovery Center. In addition to academic activities, there will also be other activities for students to enjoy. The program will be held from 7 to 9:45 p.m., Fridays, Jan. 20 and Apr. 21.

Parents whose children participate in GEMS Night Out or Kids Night Out @ Western are eligible for a 10 percent discount at Dancing Brush Studio.

Super Saturday
(grades 1-3)
Students will explore marine life at the SEA Discovery Center. Classes run from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Saturdays Jan. 21 and Feb 18 and are limited to 16 students per session. At the January 21st program, participants will discover what connects Jellyfish, Sea Anemones, and other Cnidarians. Students will compare and contrast these animals and learn why scientists have grouped them together. How do they sting other animals? Why can’t some of them sting us? What makes them stick? How do they move?

All programs provide a great opportunity for children to continue their education and explore their passions in a safe, lively atmosphere. In addition to personal growth, Western’s Youth Programs encourage youth of all ages to consider higher education as a possibility for their own future.
