Fireflies to Light Up the Night
Macaroni Made
This clever firefly is a fun summer craft that kids can make with a 1 liter pop bottle and a glow stick. The kids and I made one while camping and they loved it! Especially at night.
You will need:
1- Glow stick
1- 1-liter soda bottle with lid rinsed and dried (remove label)
1- paper cut into the shape of a large heart
2- strips of paper
2- buttons for eyes
2- pile cleaners
Glue and tape for assembly
STEP 1:
Tape the 2 strips of paper around the bottle. Then tape the heart
upside down to the bottle.
STEP 2:
Glue buttons to lid of bottle and set aside.
STEP 3:
Take 1 pipe cleaner and wrap it around the neck of bottle and shape
into antennas. Then take the other pipe cleaner and cut into 4 equal
pieces for legs. Tape or glue them to the bottom of the bottle for
legs.
STEP 4:
After glue has dried break glow stick so it is glowing and place inside the bottle and place the lid on it with the eyes positioned up.
And your done!
The kids will have so much fun playing with them in the dark! Our kids were running all around the camp site playing tag in the dark with them. Great project.... Keeps them entertained for a while. =)
