Drop offs begin Sept. 28!
Macaroni Kid Kitsap is hosting a National Costume Swap Day event - the first of it's kind locally - in an effort to make Halloween more affordable and eco-friendly.
Macaroni Kid Kitsap will be partnering with local business The Clothes Line Children’s Boutique to bring a Costume Swap Day event to our area! Why buy a brand new costume off the rack at the store? Kids only wear their costumes once, so for us swapping makes sense! Bring in last year's costumes, and then on the day of the swap you get to choose a new-to-you costume for this Halloween.
A costume swap is recycling at its most fun. Kids get new-to-them costumes, and parents get to save money and the planet. Through the efforts of a grassroots, non-profit known as Green Halloween®, families in the area are being invited to take a greener approach to Halloween. With a Central-Kitsap swap location, costume drop-off and swapping are sure to be convenient for Kitsap County parents.
You are invited to drop off your gently worn, clean costumes with all their accessories from September 28 through October 12 during The Clothes Line's normal business hours. Sizes range from birth to teen 14-16.
And the first 100 swappers who get their new costume on Swap Day - October 13 - will each get a FREE Swag Bag that includes coupons, flyers, favors, and goodies from a variety of local businesses as well as two national companies - Zevia and PopChips!
Costumes left unclaimed at the end of the swap will be donated to the Kitsap Foster Care Association and distributed to local foster kids who want to enjoy the holiday but may not have anything to dress up in.
We hope you'll join us. The more participation we have, the more costumes there will be to choose from! Tell your friends. Spread the word at work, at church, in the grocery store line, or at school and cub scouts! Email us if you'd like us to send you a flyer to distribute in your corner of Kitsap County.
Have your say
