Make Your Own Survival Kit to Streamline the Homework Process

By Julie Dikken September 12, 2014
Now that the school routine is back in place, the homework has returned.
Keep your kids motivated and on task when it comes to getting homework completed with a Homework Survival Kit. This simple to create kit keeps everything a student will need to complete their homework readily accessble, eliminating the need to search for supplies in the middle of an assignment.

What you'll need:
  • A sturdy plastic box with lid
  • Permanent Markers in various colors
  • Supplies to fill box. Some ideas include: Looseleaf paper, Graph Paper, Pens, Pencils & Sharpener, Crayons, Markers or Color Pencils, Scissors, Glue Sticks and/or Tape, Ruler, Calculator, 3 x 5 Cards, Flash Cards, Kitchen Timer
Simple instructions to assemble:

Have your child decorate their Homework Survival Kit using permanent markers. Fill box with grade appropriate supplies.

I like to have a box for each child so they can quietly work on their projects without having to wait for turns. For fun I will leave notes in their box to find as they are working or even add a "Smarties" Candy, or Hershey's "Kisses".
