We just spent a very joyous and festive weekend in Seattle, exploring the sights and sounds of the holiday season all around downtown. Our visit wouldn't have been the memorable experience it was without our stay at the eclectic Hotel Monaco.
Hotel Monaco is a beautifully decorated and luxurious boutique hotel. They open their doors to all members of the family, including kids and pets, and make them feel welcome with fun 'extras' like a pet goldfish for kids or treats for dogs. We temporarily adopted a goldfish during our stay, which was such a surprise and delight to my daughter who relished in a fish to keep her company during her stay (without the feeding and cleaning hassle that comes with truly owning a fish!) They call it Guppy Love, and all you have to do is ask and they’ll deliver a fishy friend to your room.

We were welcomed by very warm and inviting staff who were helpful and made sure our questions were answered and that we felt right at home.
In addition to the goldfish, another feature that makes Hotel Monaco unique are the plush animal print bathrobes to relax in, as well as a complementary hosted evening wine hour in the lobby. In addition to wine they offered us two non-alcoholic options as well as nice wine compliments like berries, cheese, and nuts. The evening we enjoyed wine hour there was also a live music performer entertaining guests as we sipped our spirits.

Located on 4th and Spring in the heart of downtown, Hotel Monaco is one of several fabulous Kimpton hotels. This one is located is only a couple blocks from Benaroya Concert Hall and the 5th Avenue Theatre. And not much farther away you can find other kid-friendly attractions like the Paramount Theater, Seattle Art Museum, Pike Place Market, Pioneer Square, the Convention Center, Pacific Place, Nordstroms, Macy's, and Westlake Center where you're just a Monorail ride away from the EMP, Children's Museum, Pacific Science Center, Northwest Ballet, Teatro ZinZanni, and Space Needle at Seattle Center.

Renovated only two years ago, the decor in this one-of-a-kind Seattle hotel is fresh and new. Our charming room was styled with a playful mix of sophistication and urban trends. Rich colors, patterns, and textures were reflected throughout from the bench in the entryway to the wallpaper on an accent wall. We felt spoiled with plush pillow top beds with Italian Frette linens, luxury bath amenities, and 32" flat-panel TV where we caught some kid-friendly Christmas flicks late into the night.

In the morning, complimentary freshly brewed Starbucks coffee and hot teas were available in the lobby along with the day's newspaper. We worked up an appetite shopping and sight-seeing, so we stopped for a delicious and filling brunch at Sazerac, located adjacent to the hotel. They offer American cuisine that celebrates the bounty of the Pacific Northwest with a Southern flair. The restaurant is whimsical and funky and has a unique character I've never seen before, from the elegantly eccentric chandeliers overhead to the sloped saucer holding my coffee cup.

Sazerac offers breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner (happy hour and full bar, too); so anytime of day you're sure to find them open and serving up bold flavors utilizing seasonal local ingredients. Executive Chef Jason McClure describes Sazerac dishes as "fresh, simple, and focused." That's exactly what I tasted in my Denver cast iron scramble - a delicious union of ingredients, textures, and tastes.

Back at Hotel Monaco, we felt like royalty in one of 189 guest rooms that include swanky suites fit for a king. Award-winning accommodations mean suites and rooms filled with warm Kimpton Hotel hospitality and an inviting sense of fun.
All the amenities and perks and warm inviting atmosphere are evidence why Hotel Monaco has been awarded one of the Best Hotels in the USA 2013 and 2014 by US News & World Report, one of the Best Hotels in the Pacific Northwest by Conde Nast Traveler 2012 and 3013 Reader's Choice Awards. You will also see Hotel Monaco one of the top 10 Seattle Hotels on TripAdvisor.

A 24-hour business center and fitness center are located in a stunning lower level where there are also several meeting rooms. (There is also a complimentary yoga mat in every guest room.) Valet parking is available, although for travelers from Kitsap there are driving alternatives from the ferries including bus, taxi, and on foot.
