Celebrate International Day of Happiness on March 20th

By Laura Miller March 19, 2021
March 20th is International Day of Happiness. At times the world can seem like a scary place that is filled with sadness, tragedy and many other unhappy things, but we would like you, our Macaroni Kid readers, to focus on the positive things in your lives by celebrating what makes you happy.

According to research by Action for Happiness, there are Ten Keys to Happier Living. The first five (G.R.E.A.T.) are about interactions with the outside world that make us happy, and the other five (D.R.E.A.M.) are about the things inside of ourselves that make us happy.

Giving (to others)
Relating (with others)
Exercising (well-being)
Awareness (mindfulness)
Trying Out (learning)

Direction (goals)
Resilience (bounce back)
Emotions (positive)
Acceptance (of self)
Meaning (purpose)

This Sunday, March 20, Macaroni Kid invites you to join us in celebrating happiness by filling social media with posts about what makes you happy. Please share a photo of your happiness, using the 10 keys for inspiration. Snap a photo or selfie and post it with hashtags #InternationalDayOfHappiness and #MacKid. You can print this sign to hold in your photo to make it even easier to share!

We can’t wait to see what makes our families happy!
