Peninsula Dance Theatre's Holiday Tradition: The Nutcracker

November 20, 2022

Begin your holiday season by celebrating Peninsula Dance Theatre’s 47th year of our production of “The Nutcracker”, under the Direction of Mallory Morrison. The Nutcracker is a beautiful classical ballet celebrated by millions around the world as a holiday tradition. Peninsula Dance Theatre’s Nutcracker is the longest running Nutcracker in Kitsap County and the only Nutcracker in the County that can be seen with live orchestra. The Peninsula Ballet Orchestra, conducted by Alan Futterman, will accompany the production at the Bremerton High School Performing Arts Center. All of the performers have been carefully selected from Peninsula Dance Theatre’s company and the Bremerton Dance Center studio. Peninsula Dance Theatre is also very proud of its community connections, and due to the popularity of this show, PDT is  able to included several members of the community to take part in the  production.

Performances:

Saturday, December 3rd at 2 pm and 7 pm

Sunday, December 4th at 3 pm

Nutcracker Tea: Sunday, December 4th at 1 pm

As the orchestra begins to play the overture, prepare yourself for an  enchanting adventure as Clara, who will be performed by the lovely Taya Walton, and her handsome Nutcracker Prince, danced by Owain Stuart, travel through the swirling snowflakes to the magical Kingdom of Sweets. Performing the role of Snow Queen will be one of PDT’s seniors, MaryClare Gehring. Sydney Scott, another of our graduating seniors, will elegantly grace the stage in the highly coveted role of Sugar Plum Fairy, alongside Brennan Rood as her Cavalier. Fritz, Clara’s mischievous little brother will be performed by Dario Oishi. Playing the role of Drosselmeyer, is a retired professional dancer from Richmond Ballet and Cincinnati Ballet, Jason Cisler. Jason, and his wife Nicole, PDT’s Assistance Artistic Director, are both dedicated to the art of dance, and are instructors at Bremerton Dance Center.

Both young and old can embrace the complete experience as the Peninsula  Ballet Orchestra brings Tchaikovsky’s score to like, while the Peninsula  Dance Theatre’s dancers bring this beautiful holiday ballet to life for  you.
