UKO has been teaching in Kitsap County since 1986.

Our goal at UKO is not just to create great fighters. Our goal is to help our students learn the great lessons about success that we can learn through Karate, and get them to apply those same lessons to all of their goals so they can be Champions for Life.

We teach a traditional Okinawan style of Karate called Shitoryu.

We are a full time, professional martial arts school with classes available in Port Orchard, and Poulsbo.

We have classes for children 4 through 6 years old. We also have classes for students 7 years and older.

Classes are Monday through Thursday and Saturdays.

Monday - Thursday: 2:30 to 8:30 PM

Saturday: 9:30 AM to 2:30 PM

Business Review

It’s just that we LOVE UKO. We wouldn’t be here for almost 10 years if we didn’t. They’re great people. It’s a great school. And the kids…. It’s something they’ll remember the rest of their lives.

We came across UKO through a self defense class our daughter started taking. I could not say enough positive things about Sensei Grout to my husband and asked him to please go watch how he lead the class. By the time my husband got back home he wanted our whole family to take Karate.

The combination of the positive role models, and the development, and the teaching of life skills is just a great package all together.

UKO has been an extremely positive experience for our entire family. Our kids are learning valuable life lessons about focus, courage and having a ‘never quit’ attitude. Most importantly, they are having so much fun!

I feel that UKO had a major impact in the development of Matthew. Sensei Grout and all the instructors nurture many positive factors in the development of their students. Matthew is proud of all that he has accomplished, but more important, he likes being around the people. I think he feeds off of the positive attitude of Sensei Grout. I know that UKO reinforces the ideals that we try to instill in our home. I trust UKO without any reservations.....

To Keagan it’s better than Santa Claus!

As a parent we are thrilled our girls are involved in such an excellent program. You obviously love children and it shows. My girls are better for it.

Brandi Flores - Port Orchard

All the teachers are excellent! We are very happy with the skills, responsibility and discipline our son has acquired since joining UKO. He’s having fun and learning valuable lessons at the same time.

I just wanted to let you know how impressed we are with your organization. It is so different from other clubs and sports. You make it personal and inspiring for Ryan and he loves going to class. The periodic letters to Ryan to let him know how he is doing are great - and he loved the Spring sleepover. He is learning respect and control and he loves doing the karate moves. Anyway, I hope you get enough feedback to know you are making a difference. You are both very talented in what you do and we are so glad that you are in Port Orchard!

Vanessa Cable - Port Orchard

UKO is the greatest thing in the world for kids. The instructors command respect in a fun, nurturing environment. They encourage self respect, dedication, and success in a very motivational way. I have really noticed more focus in all areas of my sons’ lives. Big confidence builder!!

Adam has enjoyed his classes. He works hard at home to make sure his “to do” list is filled out. He also makes sure that school work gets done in a timely fashion. Your teachers give Adam a good attitude. Tell them to keep it up.
