New Exhibit "The Journey to Kitsap" Opens at Kitsap History Museum

April 8, 2023

The Kitsap History Museum is excited to announce the opening of  its newest exhibit, "Journey to Kitsap," which tells the story of  immigration to the Kitsap Peninsula. This exhibit will explore the experiences of immigrants who came to Kitsap from around the world and across the country.

"Journey to Kitsap" features a variety of engaging personal stories, artifacts, and photographs from immigrants and their descendants. Visitors can learn about the challenges and triumphs of immigration, as well as the ways in which immigrant communities have shaped the Kitsap Peninsula.

"We're thrilled to share this important perspective of Kitsap's history with our community," said Jeanine Greco, Curator at the Kitsap History Museum. "Immigration has played a significant role in shaping our county, and we're excited to showcase the stories of those who have made Kitsap their home."

The exhibit also includes a section on immigration policy through history and its impact on immigrant communities. Visitors can explore the history of immigration laws and their impact on today’s demographic.

The grand public opening will begin at 5pm on Friday, April 7th at Kitsap History Museum, located at 280 Fourth Street in Bremerton. Curator Jeanine Greco will give a talk about the exhibit at 6pm.

The museum is open Thursday and Friday from 10am to 4pm, Saturday from Noon to 4pm.

Admission is free for all, and donations are welcome.
