What is Catalyst?
Catalyst: Bremerton is a tuition free, non-profit charter public school operating in Bremerton. Catalyst began in the fall of 2020 and was unanimously approved by the Washington State Charter School Commission.
Catalyst is open to ALL students regardless of ability, needs or zip code. Families do not need to live in Bremerton to attend the school.
In the 2023-2024 school year we plan to serve scholars in grades K-8. Our mission is to support our diverse scholars to live full lives and to succeed in college, career, and life. Scholars will find their purpose and passion so that they can cultivate the critical hope, optimism and leadership essential to be catalysts in their community and world.
Our Approach
A scholar's day at Catalyst is designed to ensure that they are engaged in deeper learning and that their learning is personalized. We leverage a co-teaching model to ensure that scholars and teachers meet in small groups daily so that our teachers can know the needs of each and every scholar. Programs such as our Change-Maker Space and Wellness + Purpose blocks ensure that scholars cultivate the leadership needed to make positive community change and ensure that our scholars' holistic wellness is developed. Each day at Catalyst begins with a period called Sunrise and ends with Sunset so that we support the social and emotional development of our scholars.
