Summer STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics) is the U.S. Naval Undersea Museum’s free, weekly community programming hosted on Wednesdays, 4th of July through Labor Day. The program targets K-12 students and their caregivers. The intent is to not only provide an entry point for the public to learn about the museum’s artifacts and exhibits, but to also engage children with their caregivers in active learning and exploration; inspire creative thinking and problem solving; and slow learning loss that often accompanies summer breaks. Since Summer STEAM was introduced in 2014, the program has engaged about 1,000 participants each season.
Summer STEAM activities range from water exploration to mechanical engineering, and encourage creativity, ingenuity, and fun! This year we’ll be running a “stay and explore” STEM format. Visitors can stop by our education space between 10am and 2pm try activities and experiments, and chat with an educator.
Check out the U.S. Naval Undersea Museum's Facebook page or the Macaroni KID Kitsap calendar each week for event details!
