Every year the businesses in Downtown Port Orchard celebrate Halloween with Bay Street Boo Bash. This year, trick or treating will be Saturday, October 26, from 3pm to 5 pm. And for a couple of weeks before and after Halloween, the businesses and community members showcase the creative and spooky spirit of the community by displaying scarecrows in their storefronts or at the Port Orchard Public Market on Bay Street with a Scarecrow Contest.
Registration for the Scarecrow Contest is open now. Anyone in the community can enter a scarecrow! Downtown businesses and organizations are especially encouraged to participate, but you don’t need to be a business or be located downtown to participate! You just need the creative juices and the ability to create a scarecrow. You can find more information here. Your scarecrow must be in place by Wednesday, October 16th and voting for People’s Choice runs until Monday, November 4th.
An esteemed panel of judges will visit the scarecrows by October 28 and select the best Business, Non-Profit, and Family/Individual submissions. The winners of the contest receive a commemorative trophy and all the bragging rights! Even if you don’t want to enter a scarecrow, you need to visit Downtown Port Orchard and vote for your favorite the scarecrow.
Be sure to plan on being in downtown Port Orchard on Saturday, October 26, for our beloved community event – Bay Street Boo Bash – trick or treating in Downtown Port Orchard. Each year the downtown business community looks forward to the goblins and ghouls who invade downtown Port Orchard seeking candy and prizes. This year, trick or treating on Bay Street will be from 3 pm to 5 pm. Mystery judges will be awarding prizes for best costumes while following the arrows for candy from business to business. Just follow the arrows and look for the STOP FOR CANDY signs. We hope you will spend plenty of time with family and friends enjoying the costumes and events going on in downtown Port Orchard.
